This is at the intersection of PA Routes 873 and 329. 

 

 

The Hessians Who Rest Here

 

 

Stemler (Stemmler, Stamler, Stammler), Heinrich (Henry). Born Oct. 6, 1754 (baptism record) or Sep. 24, 1754 (tombstone) in Ropperhausen, Hessia; died Feb. 22, 1830 (newspaper notice and tombstone) in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County, PA; buried in Old Cemetery at Union Church, North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, PA. Military Unit: private in Hessen-Kassel Von Knyphausen Regiment, Company 5. Service: May 4, 1774-Dec. 26, 1776; taken prisoner at Trenton and sent to Lancaster, PA Other: served in 5th Co., 1st Battalion of the Northampton County militia in 1785; married Catharina Helfrich and had 8 children

His wife Catharina Helfrich is also buried in this cemetery in Row 10.  Each grave is marked with a stone.
