Subject: Commendation

Oct. 16, 1945

To: Commanding Officer, 8th Radio Squadron Mobile, APO 246

1. The 8th Radio Squadron Mobile during its period of operation from December 1944 through September 1945 had as its mission the processing and exploitation of intercepted Japanese communications. The cessation of hostilities found this exploitation at peak effectivness with the production of intelligence of immediate tactical value to the Air Forces. Possession of this information placed our forces at a definite advantage over the enemy and, therefore, the contribution of the 8th Radio Squadron Mobile in this war cannot be overemphasized.

2. The splendid record achieved by this Squadron has been due in large measure to the resourcefulness and excellent cooperative spirit of the personnel involved. Keen analysis and thorough knowledge of Japanese communications have characterized the high calibre of their work.

3. I wish to commend all personnel of the 8th Radio Squadron Mobile in their performance of the above mentioned duties.

BY COMMAND OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL GILES:

K. P. MCNAUGHTON
