In compiling this Appendix, please remember that in the
Worlds War Roster of Officers we have only included the
names of Tennesseans.
There were more than one hundred fifty young men from the
ranks, mostly from the artillery regiments, who, by their
fitness and ability, obtained commissions as second
lieutenants. The majority of them graduated from the 3rd
Officers Training Camp at Leon Springs, Texas.
They were distributed all over the American forces in
France where they were badly needed in the artillery and
aviation branches- the two weakest parts of the American
forces overseas.
