I'm having a great life! I was fortunate to have good supervison and "mostly" good assignments. (not all).
I returned to the special weapons field on the first assignment from OCS as a quality control weapons inspector. This work resulted in a regular commission. Good start! My only overseas assignment followed, more special weapons work with Nato units in Turkey, Italy, Germany, Holland, and Belgium, working out of USAFE HQ. Returning from Europe, I was in minuteman crew duty at FEWarren AFB, not the greatest assignment. It didn't help my career, but didn't hurt it either; then completed AFIT at U of Wyoming.
Now it was on to Minot AFB as Chief of Engineering and Analysis Division. Minot was a exceptional assignment, even for SAC. When I got an error free ORI rating and promotion to major it was time to move on to a new assignment at WPAFB in the Service Engineering Office. Worked issues on Titan, Minuteman, and some satellite systems. It was an interesting and frustrating job. I then moved to ASD as Chief of Foreign Sales on the F 15 .
With the promotion to Lt. Colonel I moved to the Electrical Warfare Office as a Deputy Director of a special EW developement program. Lots of trips to the pentagon; thank God I didn't have to work there. As our new EW techniques were passed to the individual AC Program Offices I decided it was time to retire. One day you know it is time to go!
| Now it is 2003. I spend 2 days a week at the Air Force Museum Restoration Division as a volunteer helping putting old airplanes back together; one day a week as a Metro park bicycle patrol member, and the rest of the time keeping the wife of 49 years happy and contented.
