Hospital Stores for the 104th.
MORRIS ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA,
April 12, 1864.
Messrs. Prizer & Darlington :—In a recent number of
your paper l see the announcement of the arrival of sundry
boxes and barrels of hospital stores at Beaufort, S. C., the
contribution being from the Ladies’ Aid Society of Doyles-
town to the sick of the 104th Regiment.
On behalf of the sick of my regiment, I desire to thank
those who have generously contributed to the alleviation of
their sufferings. Not having received an inventory of the
contents of the boxes sent, I here give the contents of two
boxes, which is all that have been received here, through the
Sanitary Commission at this Post. 15 lbs. dried crackers,
4 lbs. ginger cakes, 1 bag dried cherries, 2 bottles pickled
cabbage, 2 jars peppers, 1 jar spiced plums, 3 bottles wine,
1 bottle mustard. 1 jar pickles, 2 bottles currant syrup, 1 can
preserved pears, 20 needle books, 3 checker-boards, 3 night
caps, with an assortment of old papers and pamphlets.
