A party of the Doylestown Guards, consisting of Ser-

genat E. L. Rogers, and privates J. M. Rogers, Hendrie,

McCarty, Hough and Hefford, established an encampment

on the banks of the Delaware, above Point-Pleasant, last

week.  The encampment consists of one of Uncle Sam’s

tents, procured by some ledgermain and is styled

“ Camp Davis.”  We presume that the regular routine of

camp duties, such as drill, parade, and guard mounting,

are regularly performed.  That this post is not without

danger is proved by the fact that one of the privates had

bullet holes through the soles of his shoes probably

received while they were turned in the direction of the

enemy’s pickets on the Jersey flats.  Discipline is some-

times relaxed, and foraging parties sally in the adjoin-

ing country, in quest of snappers and other delicacies.
