Ladies: Help
The
Soldiers
Oct. 1, 1861—Ladies of War-
minster—there are many things
our volunteers in the Ringgold
Regiment now encamped at Doy-
lestown need that the Govern-
ment does not supply. There are;
“ . . . combs, brushes, towels,
shoe-blacking and brushes, cra-
vats and needles and thread. The
Colonel did not draw leather
stocks, as they are uncomfortable
things and deprive the soldier of
the free use of the neck, but each
should have something around the
neck to protect the throat. No-
thing is more essential than rub-
ber blankets . . . It would also
be well for each man to be pro-
vided with extra pair of nice
warm socks, which we know the
ladies will furnish . . .”
