Heavy Rains Termed

‘Union Weather’

Heavy rains in and about Rich-

mond, Virginia, in the latter part

of May, 1862, were termed “Un-

ion Weather” by residents of the

Confederate capital.

The muddy roads slowed the

advance of McClellan’s army, in-

cluding Col. Davis and his 104th.
