To The Patriotic People of Bucks County.--In the

last week I have received letters from patriotic citizens

asking how they can contribute to the comfort of the

Ringgold Regiment; and as I have not the time to respond

to each one, I take this method of responding to the

inquiries.  The men stand in need of a few little things

necessary to their comfort, which the Government does

not supply.  Each man should have at least one woolen

or worsted cravat or neck handkerchief, to protect the

throat from the cold of winter, or a stock, but the former

costs less.  Every man should have a pair of dark (lead

color preferred) warm gloves, for winter, to keep the hands

warm.  A good Article lined inside with buckskin, can

be bought for a little less than three dollars per dozen.—

The two articles are but of a talking nature, but the pos-

session of them will contribute much to their comfort.—

A rubber, blanket is essential to a soldier at all seasons

of the year, and especially in winter, and we hope no Bucks

county volunteer will be allowed to leave Camp Lacey

without one.  Probably one-fourth of the men have

received or will receive them from their friends, while the

remainder must do without or be supplied by the generous

and patriotic public.  They can be purchased for eighteen-

dollars per dozen.  Shall an appeal of this character be

made in vain?”  The ladies, who are always foremost in

acts of charity and virtue, cannot address themselves to

a more patriotic labor.  With them the matter rests.—

Shall their sons, brothers and lovers go forth to fight the

battles of their country properly fitted out for a winter

campaign?  Let soldiers aid societies be formed, and the

work is soon accomplished.                 W. W. H. Davis,

Colonel Commanding Ringgold Regiment.
