From the Ringgold Regiment.—On Christmas Day

the entire regiment moved into barracks intended for

their winter quarters at Camp Davis.  The tents were

taken down early in the forenoon, and by five o’clock in

the evening every thing on the camp ground was trans-

ferred to the board houses.  The men are now all com-

fortably sheltered from the cold, rain and snow.  They

are all much pleased with their new accommodations,

and celebrated the removal into them by having a gen-

eral dance on Wednesday evening.  Lieutenant Robert

Holmes, of Company A. has been appointed Brigade

Commissary.  On Monday of last week, private Tunis K

Smith, of Company C, died of small pox.  He was from

New Hope, where he leaves a wife and several children.

He was a good soldier and much esteemed by the officers

and men of the Company.  His remains were interred in

a burying ground near Georgetown.  During his sickness

he was carefully nursed, and every want attended to.

The Captains of the several Companies have been busy

making out their pay rolls, preparatory to receiving pay

for their men for the last two months.  To-day (Tuesday)

it was expected that all hands would be paid off, when

each private will receive two months wages—$26.  We

presume a large amount of the money will be sent home

to the families of the men.
