March 31st 1865

Dear Husband

I sit down to

night when all is still to talk with

you on paper  we are all at

this time and have been since

you left  I hope this may find

you enjoying good health and

spirits  I received yours of the 4th

of March Bermuda hundred but

none since  I expect one tomorrow

it seems a long time to me  we

have had high water here this spring

two weeks ago the water took every

thing along the creek bridges foot

logs fences and some old building

we have a foot log now at Fouses

yesterday it began to rain  last night

it rained very hard all night  the

waters are very high to day  I can’t

send the children to school now the

water is so high.  I still have wood

that you cut  I got a little cut since

they have got the township nearly clear
