                Clover Creek August 2nd 1865

Dear Fleetwood

I sit down to day to write you

a few line  we are well at present and hope this

may find you well  yesterday I was away from home

collecting some of my money that I earned.  2 years

ago I got 7 dollars and a quarter  we are getting along

very well on money matters and other things too

I was looking for that certificate to send to New

York  it is not in your chest  I cannot find it any

place about the house  there was an envelope

in with your papers  it had some papers in but not

the certificate  it grieves most awfully about it

now we must lose all if that is not found  it

seems strange about it  I am satisfied it is

not about the house but perhaps it is still for

our good  you know it might be all a hoax and

we were not to give any more  the rest of

them are sending theirs this week  durandt

says he will pay the 8 dollars now  right away

if I could get the certificate the 8 dollars

are of no use if it cannot be found and the

10 dollars too we will lose  write in your next

what you think about it and what I should

do  I would like to write a good deal this time

but Fouse’s are waiting now on this  they are

going to Martinsburg to day  I will send this

along  I look for you home in this month
