Capt. Jacob Swartzlander

                                             Camp 104th. Pa. Vols.
                                             Hilton Head S.C.
                                             June 13 th. 1864
Cousin Han,
              This has been a miserable,
cold, rainy, dreary, gloomy, dismal and dis-
agreeable day, and no prospect of a change
very soon. How is the weather in Pennsyl-
vania? The Paymaster was here last week
and the regt. received two months pay.
The veterans of our regiment have not
all returned yet. Col. Davis says the officers
who took them home made a nice thing
of it, in not bringing them all back.
I am very glad I did not go home with
them, for I apprehended there would be difficul-
ty in getting them together to return.
Col. Davis is now in command of his regt.
While he was at home his Brigade was
broken up.
