Throughout this month, the 91st was in the Third Brigade, First Division, Fifth Army Corps, of the Army of the Potomac. The siege of Petersburg continued, with action at Dabney's Mills, Hatcher's Run, at the beginning of the month. [Dyer, v.3 p.1604]

about 4 am. Started toward Hatcher's Run. Deployed skirmishers; about 4 pm attacked Confederate works. Made charge, which was repulsed. Sixth Corps mistakenly fired on command. Lt William H Frailey wounded. Capt George P Finney captured. Colors saved only by sgt Thomas Devereux (C) stripping from staff and hiding them on himself.
