When he enlisted, he was a laborer (14).
He was 5 feet 6 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair (14).
He was enlisted and mustered into service on 26 September 1862 (1, 13 [2 September 1861], 14, 16). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Gregory (14). He served as a private in company D (1).
He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (19). He was wounded on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (1).
On 6 September 1863, he was absent without leave (8).
He was at Camp Convalescent, Alexandria, Virginia, on 8 September 1863, when Lieutenant Colonel Sinex asked for his return (4).
On 26 September 1863, he was reported returned from hospital for duty (9).
On 30 December 1863, Sinex reported that he was one of 30 men who had more than fifteen months to serve who were willing to reenlist (4). On 2 January 1864, he was transferred to the 155th Pennsylvania Infantry, while those eligible were on veterans' leave (10).
On 2 May 1864, he was detailed for duty at Brigade Headquarters (15).
On 20 June 1864, he was detailed by General Griffin for duty in the provost guard at division headquarters (6, 7). He was still there in September (?) 1864 (7).
He was discharged in the field, near Washington DC, on 2 June 1865 by special order (1) or by general order 26, War Department (11, 12, 14, 16).
In 1870, he was living in ward 2, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (24). He was a carpenter (24). He was living with Thomas Sinex (perhaps his brother), and Elizabeth Sinex (perhaps his mother) (24).
On 16 March 1875, he successfully applied for a pension (17).
In 1880, he was living on Buck Road, ward 1, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (25). He was a vegetable farmer (25). He was living with his wife Sarah Elizabeth, children Henry and Sarah, two boarders, and a niece (25). (While this wife's name does not match the widow who applied for a pension, or his wife in 1900, I have not found any other Henry Sinex.)
He was on the arrangements committee for the 1884 meeting of the 91st's Survivor's Association (2, 23), and attended the meeting (3).
In 1890, he was living at 2515 McKee Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (16).
At the December 1896 meeting of the 91st's Survivors' Association, he was elected Treasurer (20).
At the December 1897 meeting of the 91st's Survivors' Association, he was reelected Treasurer (21).
In 1900, he was living on Buck Road, ward 39, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (26). He was a farmer (26). He was living with his wife Matilda, and son Elwood (26).
On 8 May 1902, he died (22).
On 4 June 1902 [?], his widow, Matilda Sinex, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (17).
In 1910, his widow, Matilda, was living at 1509 [?] Morris Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (18). She was living with her son Elwood (18).
