Description

He was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall, and had blue eyes, light hair, and a light complexion (2). According to the 91st's description, he was 5 feet 8-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (4).

During the war

He enlisted on 16 September 1861 in company G of the 81st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, at Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania (2, 3, 5, 9). He was wounded at Fair Oaks and discharged, on an unknown date (2). He had served for seventeen months (9).

He enlisted and was mustered into service in the 91st Pennsylvania on 30 January 1864 (1, 4, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Burk (4). He served as a private in company A (1, 3).

He was wounded on 10 [?] May 1864 at Spottsylvania Court House, Virginia (1, 8).

On 11 September 1864 (1) or 19 September 1864 (4), he was transfered to the Veterans' Reserve Corps (1, 5 [1 Sept!], 6). He served in company B of the 14th Veterans' Reserve Corps (3, 5).

He served for fifteen months (7, 9 [17]).

After the war

He applied successfully for a pension--perhaps on 6 March 1883 or on 26 March 1868? (3, 5).

On 21 September 1895, he was admitted to the National Soldiers Home (7, 9). He was admitted from Pennsylvania (7, 9). He had a gunshot wound of the thigh (7). He was receiving a pension of $12 per month (7).

He was discharged from the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home on 18 May 1896 (7).

In 1899, he was present at the Northwestern Branch of the National Soldiers Home (9). He was receiving a pension of $12 per month (9). He had a gunshot wound of the thigh (9).

He died on 21 April 1919, at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (5).
