This company was paroled at Roanoke Island on 8 February 1862 after its capture. The men returned to Georgia to await exchange. The company was reorganized 16 May 1862 and attached to the 55th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry while they waited for exchange. After being declared exchanged the company rejoined the 2nd Battalion North Carolina Infantry in August 1862. On 11 April 1864 this company became 2nd Co.
