I recently came across the 1964-65 cruise book for the United States Ship Coral Sea.
It chronicles the voyage of the USS Coral Sea during its unusual deployment to the Western Pacific. Filled with facts and figures it includes a history of the USS Coral Sea Carrier ship, as well as providing many "behind the scenes" looks at the ship, its men, their duties and more during their mission to the West Pacific. Published in its entirety aboard the USS Coral Sea, it is literally crammed full of photos, not only of the battles and places they visited, but also of the men assigned to this cruise. Formal group photos include a listing of the men within that picture, and the formal pictures of the Officers also include brief bios, making it a valuable find for genealogy research as well as for military history. These webpages include an abstract/compilation listing of those names appearing in the ship's cruise book as having served aboard the USS Coral Sea during 1964-1965. Included are any vital statistics that may appear in the book, such as date/place of birth, spouse and children, as well as rank or rate if such info appears, as well as military career info included in the bios of the commanding officers, etc. Unfortunately, the pages within the 1964-65 cruise book are not numbered, and I have, essentially, only included the names appearing on the credits, dedication and formal photo pages, although, a few tidbits were gleaned from other areas. Names are grouped according to the page, department, division and/or photo they appear in. Some of these persons' names appear more than once in the included sections of the book and may appear abbreviated in one instance and displayed long in another. Hence, such persons may appear multiple times within this compilation.
