These men may have been living in other counties when they enlisted in the 14th Kentucky. If your ancestor joined the 14th Kentucky while living in a particular county and does not appear on the 1890 Census ...he may have moved to another county or state after the war or he may have died prior to the 1890 census.

When a veteran was deceased, but his widow was living, her name will appear under Comments/Notes of Census taker and an * will appear after the veterans last name.

Each name on the lists were cross referenced against the official roster of the 14th Kentucky to verify the spelling of the names. In some cases, this was the only way to correctly decipher the veteran's name, since the handwriting of the census taker was nearly illegible.

The original spelling of names and words in the census was retained.

If words were unreadable�a ? will appear on the lists.
