I pulled up an interesting book from our public library vault.  Dear Julio, The Story of Charles L. Pyron, Jim Bowie and the Family Veramendi, by Robert Canfield.  No publisher, so must have been privately published by author in 1996.  In general it explains about La Fourche Crossing, one of the actions he was in command of during the Civil War.  How the Texas 2nd Cav. lost it, and the Col. Pyron came to San Antonio on medical leave to his home that was once owned by the Veramendi, the father of Jim Bowie's wife.  It states that Pyron's Regiment was the first unit formed in TX when the war began.  It was the 2nd TX Mounted Rifles.  Headquarters for 2nd TX Cav. was San Antonio.  Just thought you might like this info.

Renee's Note: The public library mentioned above is probably in San Antonio, TX.
