Alexander Coker
Alexander Coker was born in 1827 and died in 1898. He was married to Sarah E. Unknown. Sarah was born in 1828 and died in 1909. They are both buried in the Oakville Cemetery in Oakville, Live Oak County, Texas.

Alexander Coker has only three records, as follows.
Regimental Return - July 1864 - Absent without leave since July
12, 1864.
Regimental Return - August 1864 - Absent without leave. Supposed
to have been elected sheriff.
Regimental Return - Undated - Discharged at Galveston, Reason,
elected sheriff of Oakville, Live Oak County.

To
all whom it may concern, know ye that I WM. Gamble chief Justice of the County
of Live Oak do hereby certify that
Alexander Coker, a member of Company K, Second Tex. Cavalry,
that at a regular election held by me in
and for said county on the first Monday in August it being the first day
of said
month in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and sixty four,
duly
and lawfully elected to the office of Sherriff for said County, and I do
further certify that sthe said Coker has given bond and taken the oath of
office in the manner and form prescribed by Law.
In
testimony of such I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
of
County Court of Live Oak County at my office in the town of Oakville.

The
following information was taken from the " History of the People of Live
Oak County.
Alexander Coker served as Sheriff from August 1864 until December 1865. From
July 1866 until May 1870 he served the county as District Clerk. He served as
County Tax Collector from April 1876 until January of 1889. From January 1891
until January 1899 he served as County Treasurer.
