Pvt. Calvin Jones enlisted on October 10, 1861 at Escondido under
Capt. McRae. His horse was valued at $ 80 and his equipment at $
25.

Muster Roll of June 1862 - Paid $ 32.80 for the use of his horse.
He is due his regular pay from enlistment date.
Muster Roll of October 31, 1862 - He is paid $ 24.10 for his
horse  which is now valued at $ 112 and his equipment at $ 55. He
reenlisted on June 26 while stationed near Helena Tx.  ( Karnes
Co. )
Muster Roll of August 1863 -  Absent, on sick furlough for 30 days
as of July 3.
Muster Roll of February 1864 - Detailed to horse camp on Feb. 3,
1864.
Muster Roll of December 1864 -  absent without leave since Aug.2,
1864.

The following was taken from the " History of People of Live Oak County."

Calvin Jones and his sister Nancy Jones moved to Live Oak County about 1849. Their father was Allen Jones and their mother was Nancy Pullin Jones. Both were born in Mississippi. Calvin fought at the Battle of Shiloh and was wounded in the leg. In 1865 Calvin married Lydia Chambliss.


Calvin filed for a Confederate Pension on July 22, 1899 and it was approved on October 3, 1899. In the application he noted that he was 61 years old and had lived in Oakville for approximately 1 year and was a farmer. Calvin was born about 1838.
