Charles
O'Conner enlisted on September 23, 1861 at Ft. Brown in Brownsville,
Texas. His age is noted as 33 and he enlisted for a period of 12 months. Capt.
Donelson was his enlisting officer. His horse is valued at $ 75 and his
equipment at $ 25
Muster Roll of Jan. 1, 1862 - Charles is paid $ 29.20 for the use of his horse,
but it is noted that he is riding a Fort horse since Oct. 16, 1861.
Oct. 1862 - he has reenlisted at Helena by Capt. Donelson. His horse is still
valued at $ 75 and equipment at $ 25. He is paid $ 24.40 for the use of his
horse.
Hospital Card dated Aug., 1863 - Rheumatism and Dysentery. Admitted on
Aug. 25 - returned to duty Aug. 30.
Muster Roll of Aug. 1863 - Notes he is absent, on sick furlough.
Last index card states that he was paroled as a prisoner on July 24, 1865.
