Collin D. McRae

 

Captain Colin D. Mc Rae enlisted on September 23, 1861 at Ft. Brown Texas for a period of 12 months.** He was 26 years old at the time. The Cavalry set a value of 
$ 125 on his horse and $ 25 on his equipment.

Muster Roll of Jan, 1, 1862 - notes that he sign the records at “Mustering Officer.”
Muster Roll of Jan. 1862- Near Ft. Brown- On Detached service at mount of Rio Grande in charge of lookout.
Muster Roll of April, 1862 - notes that he signed as Commanding Officer.
Muster Roll of August , 1862 - Slightly wounded near Nueces. ( Probably Nueces River.)
Muster Roll of October 31, 1862, notes that he has just been promoted to Captain on October 10, 1862.
Muster Roll of June 1863 - On sick furlough in San Antonio.
Muster Roll of Feb. 1864 - On Detached Service
Muster Roll of July 1864 - Absent without leave since July 8, 1864.
Muster Roll of August 20, 1864 - In arrest since Aug. 1, 1864.

** Capt. McRae must have had previous experience in the military but I have not located any records indicating such.
