Pvt.  James Alexander Bolton

 

 

James Alexander Bolton was born March 2, 1846 and  died August 16, 1920. He is buired in Jacksonville Cemetary in Jacksonville, Texas.  He was married to Julia Ann Davis. Julia was born in 1853 and died in 1933.They had one known daughter, Susan C. Bolton, bonr Aug. 22, 1870 in Anderson County and she died Aug. 24, 1913 in Ft. Worth Tex.

He enlisted on June 26, 1862 at Escondido under Captain John Donelson. He enlisted for the period of the war. He was using his personal horse and the Cavalry paid him $ 48.40 for the use of it.

Muster Roll dated October 1864 - "Absent, sick since September 20, 1864."
Muster Roll dated November, 1864 - it notes he is still sick.
Muster Roll dated November, 1865 - it notes he is still sick.

One Hospital Card - undated.
General Hospital- Howards Grove
Richmond Virginia
Admitted Oct. 3, 1864.

( Note, since there is no record of the 2nd Cav. ever being in Virginia, I would assume that he was sent to a specialized hospital or he was sent to his home state to be taken care of.)
