Wood, members of Co. K.  They reported that Frank Leazar was already a member when they enlisted in 1863 and 1862.  T.T. Wood stated he was taken prisoner in July of 1863 and, when he returned after 16 months, served the remainder of the war with Frank Leazar.

When Frank Leazar's service record was requested from the War Department in Washington, no record was found.  However, Rhoda Leazar received a pension based on the strength of her application and continued to receive one until her death in 1925.  She and Frank are buried in the Old Moulton Cemetery in Lavaca County, Texas.

Pvt. James F. Leazear  enlisted on October 5, 1861 at Moulton, Texas. He was enlisted by Capt. McRae for the duration of the War.  The Muster Roll of March-April only notes that he is present.  The October Roll indicates that the Cavalry set a value of $ 115.00 on his horse and $40.00 on his equipment.  He is paid $ 24.40 for the use of his horse at that time.

Muster Roll of June 30, 1863 notes that he is sick in the Hospital at New Iberia.

( Louisiana).  The August Muster Roll only notes that he is under “ arrest and confinement.”

By February 1864 he is present with the company. April 1864 he is now “ absent without

leave.”  The September Muster Roll notes that he is on furlough. He is allowed 60 days furlough starting on September 18, 1864. (Note, James has two other brothers in this same company and they are all granted furlough starting on the same date.)
