James Gray Little
James G. Little was born in Alliton, Copiah County, Mississippi on March 14, 1835. He moved to Texas in 1853, according to his Confederate Pension Application. He volunteered for the Confederacy, first serving 2 years in Company C, "Hopps Reg", and then transferring to Co. K Pyron's Reg., in Louisiana where he served until the close of the war. He was discharged at Galveston, Texas in April or May 1865 at the close of the war. (Witnesses for pension application were W. F. and T. J. Cude who served with him from June 1863 to the close of the war in May 1865.)
He
married Nancy Jane Ricks on January 2, 1860 in Live Oak County, Texas, though
records there show the date to be January 5, 1860. In the 1860 Census, he
and wife Nancy are shown to be living in Karnes County. Together, they had seven
children:
James William, Mary Ann Julia, George Washington, Nancy Olivia, Emmett, Martha
and Robert Agustus.
His
wife Nancy died November 13, 1892 according to an affidavit of heirship recorded
in deed records which were filed in Frio County in 1917. No probate
records have been found.
On October 16, 1895, James married Annie Elizabeth Wallace Toalson
Henderson in Pearsall, Frio County, Texas. Together, they had two
children: Nellie, born 1896 and Harvey E., born September 12, 1900. James
Gray Little died June 25, 1921, in Pearsall, Texas, and is buried in Sand Hollow
Cemetery.

Muster
Roll of February and
March 1863 both indicate that he is working as a teamster.
Muster Roll of July 1864 notes that he is on furlough since April 15, 1864.

Sand Hollow Cemetery is located East of Pearsall, Texas out Sand
Hollow Road about 3 miles, near FM Road 140.
