 Jose M. Carro

 

 

Pvt. Jose M. Carro enlisted at Ft. Brown on September 23, 1861. He
was 32 years old at the time. He was enrolled by Capt. Donelson
for a period of 12 months. The Cavalry
set a value of $ 50 on his horse and $ 20 on his equipment.

Muster Roll of November 1, 1861 -  " Pay due from enlistment."
Muster Roll of Jan. 1, 1862   _ " Pay due from enlistment.."
Muster Roll of Feb., 1862      _  Last paid by Capt. Settles
Muster Roll of April, 1862    _  Present

He was discharged on June 15, 1862, while the company was
stationed at Escondido.

Note - One of his papers seems to be signed Jose M. Carroy.

 

 

Transcription of Military Discharge Paper

 

I certify that the within name Jose M. Carro a Private of Apt. John Donelson's Co. of the 2nd Regiment of Texas Mtd. Rifles, born in Nacogdoches, in the state of Texas, age thirty six years, five feet six inches high, dark complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair, and by profession a farmer, was enlisted by Capt. John Donelson at Brownsville, Texas on the 25 day of September 1861, to serve for one year, is now entitle to discharge by reason of

 

The said Carro was last paid by Capt. Francis J. Lynch N. (sic). M. so include the 31st day of December 1861 and also the allowance of six months clothing was paid him, and has pay due to him from that date to the present date.

 

There is due him (one hundred & thirty two dollars) $132.00

 

He is indebted to the Confederate Sate nine dollars forty five cents on account of clothing.

 

Paid on duplicate at Camp on the Escondido the 15th day of June 1862.
