Josiah R. Lansford
Pvt. Josiah R. Lansford enlisted in Co. K on September 23, 1861 for a period of 12 months. He was 30 years old at the time. The Cavalry set a value of $ 60 on his horse and $ 30 on his equipment.
Muster Roll dated Jan. 1862- Detached Service with Coast Guard. He is also paid for
the use of his horse the sum of $ 39.20.
Muster Roll dated October 31, 1863 - He has reenlisted while the Company is stationed near Helena. His horse is now valued at $ 100, his equipment at $ 60 and is paid for the use of his horse the sum of $ 24.40.
Muster Roll of June 30, 1863. Taken prisoner on June 21, 1863. ( At this time Co. K is in Louisiana at LaFrouch Crossing) There is a second card for June and it notes that he is Present. But in August , 2863 it again notes that he is " supposed to be a prisoner."
Muster Roll of February 1864 - On detached service East of Mississippi River.
Muster Roll of October 1864. POW since 6-21-63.
Note-
Apparently there is something wrong with the notes or dates above. It would
appear that the Cavalry didn't know where he was from June 21, 1863 till Oct.
1864.
