 J. Warren Mangum

 

 

Pvt. J. Warren Mangum enlisted on October 15, 1861 in Moulton Texas. He was recruited by Capt. Mc Rae.

 

Muster Roll of January 1862 - Notes that he is paid $ 30.80 for the use ofhis horse. His regular pay is due from the enlistment date. The Muster of April 1862 only notes that he is present.

 

Muster Roll of October 31, 1862 - He has reenlisted on June 26, 1862 at Helena Texas. His horse is now valued at  $ 150 and his equipment at $ 50. He is paid $ 24.40 for the use of his horse.

 

Muster Roll of June 30, 1863 -  “ died in Hospital at Galveston “.     ( He was probable severly wounded at the Battle of LaFourche Crosssing which occured just a few day earlier.)
