J. W. Kendrick - CO K 2nd Texas Cavalry

  J. W. Kendrick

Corporal J. W. Kendrick -  His first record is a Muster Roll of Oct. 31, 1862. It notes that the enlisted on June 26, 1861 while the company was stationed at Helena. His recruiting officer was Capt. Donelson.  At that time the Cavalry set a value of $ 125 on his horse and $ 45 on his personal equipment.   On Oct. 31 he was paid $ 24.40 for the use of his horse.

One the Muster Roll of July-Aug. 1863 is notes that he as reenlisted on June 26, 1863 at Escondido by Capt. Donelson. He reenlisted for the duration of the war.

The date on the above record is evidently wrong because the last records notes that he has  " Died of wounds received at laFrouche Crossing on June 21, 1863."
