Littleton Stringfield

Littleton enlisted on September 23, 1861 at Ft. Brown in Brownsville, Texas. He enlisted for a period of 12 months and was 19 years old at the time. He used his own horse which the Cavalry  valued at $ 40.00 and his equipment at $ 15.00.

Muster Roll of Nov. 1, 1861.- he is due pay from time of enlistment and is being paid by Captain J. A.. Settle.

Muster Roll dated Jan. 1, 1862 - he is paid $ 39.20 for the use of his horse.

Littleton was reported killed in action on August 10, 1862. He was on duty at the Nueces River near Ft. Clark.

Tehuacana Cemetery

The Tehuacana Cemetery is located west of Moore, Texas. Take FM 462 west 8.1 miles. You will come to CR 749 turn south and go 2.1 miles. The cemetery is located at the junction of CR 749 and CR 1301.

From the McMullen County History Book

Thomas W. Stringfield and his brother, Littleton T. Stringfield
joined the McMullen County Homeguard on August 17, 1861. This unit
was commissioned and made a part of the 29th Brigade Texas
Militia. Littleton, a single man was killed before leaving Texas.
Another brother, James McKendree Stringfield, was killed in
Arkansas during the Civil War.
