Wiley Crouch
Pvt. Wiley Crouch enlisted at Ft. Brown on September
23, 1861. He
was 18 years old at the time, and enlisted for a period of 12
months. He brought his own horse which the was valued at $ 50.
Muster Roll of January 1862 - He is still due his regular pay from
enlistment but is paid $ 37.40 for the use of his horse.
Muster Roll of April 1862 - notes that he is present.
Muster Roll of Oct. 1862 - Notes that had been paid by Capt. Gary
on Aug. 31. He now is riding a horse that is valued at $ 80 and
his equipment at $ 35. He is also paid $ 24.20 for the use of his horse
and it also indicated that he has reenlisted as of June 21, 1862 while
stationed near Helena Texas.
Hospital Card of Jan. 1863.- " In hospital at Columbus."
Muster Roll of June 30, 1863 - He was last paid by Capt. Reeves on
Feb. 28. The final note shows that he was - Killed in action on
June 21, 1863 at La Fourche Crossing.
