William Crouch - CO K 2nd Texas Cavalry

 William Crouch

William F. Crouch  was most likely recruited by Capt. Mc Rae since
he too was enrolled previously and then enlisted on October 15,
1861 in Ft. Brown. In June 1862 the records show that he was paid
$ 30.80 for the use of his horse. The Muster Roll of
October 31, 1862 indicates that he has reenlisted on June 26 while
stationed at Helena Texas. At that time he is again paid for the
use of his horse the sum of $ 24.40. He reenlisted again in June
of 1863 this time while stationed at Escondido and now for the
duration of the war. He was also paid $ 48.80 for the use of his
horse.

The Muster Roll of February 1864 now lists him as 3rd. Lt. and
notes that he was "Elected from the rands on Jan. 1, 1864."

In April 1864 he is on Detached Service by order of Lt. Col. Walker.

By May he is listed at being back with the company.  In Sept. the

records note his as 2nd Lt. and in October he is again promoted to 1st. Lt.
