 William K. Inglish

 

Pvt.  William K. Inglish enlisted at Ft. Brown on September 23,
1861 under Capt. Donelson. He enlisted for a period of 12 months.
He was 16 years old at the time. He brought his own horse and
equipment which the Cavalry valued at $ 60 for the horse and $ 25
for his equipment.

The Muster Roll of Jan. 1, 1862 notes that he was paid $ 39.20 for
the use of his horse. It also notes that he is on Detached Service
as a Coast Guard. In February he is on Detached Service as an
escort for prisoners being taken to San Antonio.

On June 26, 1862 he reenlisted while the company was stationed
near Helena Texas. The records note that he was last paid by Capt.
Gary the sum of $ 24.40 for the use of his horse, which is now
valued at $ 80. In June of 1863 he is sick in the hospital at New
Iberia ( Louisiana ). One November 8, 1863 his name appears on a
list of men that are
" sick and arrest & confinment in Pleasanton ."In February 1864
he is on Detached Service but the records do not state where or
what he is doing. In August he is noted as being on furlough as of
the 12th of the month.
