Additional Information: William Smith Leazar married Rachel (unknown) and had
two children.
In 1909 William Smith Leazar applied for a Soldier's Pension (#15255). In
the application he stated he served four years in Co. K. and that "...I was
honorably surrendered at Galveston Texas at close of war." His
application was supported by T.T. Wood and his brother, John Alexander Leazar.
The report from the War Department stated, "The records show that W.S.
Leazar, private, Company K, 2d Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army, enlisted
October 15, 1861. On the company role for January and February, 1864, last
on file, he was reported present. No later record of him has been
found." William Smith Leazar's application was approved and he
received a pension until his death in 1922. Upon his death his widow,
Rachel, applied for and received a Widow's Pension until her death in 1937.
William and Rachel Leazar are buried in the Leesville Cemetery, Leesville,
Gonzales County, Texas.

Pvt. William Leazear along with his brothers enlisted on October 15, 1861 in
Moulton Texas. They were enlisted by Capt. McRae.
