William R. McCauley
Pvt.
William R. Mc Cauley enlisted in the Second Cavalry on September 23, 1861 at Ft.
Brown Texas. He was 26 years old at the time and he enlisted for a period of 12
months. The Cavalry set a value of $ 60 on his horse and $ 20 on his personal
equipment.
Muster Roll dated Jan, 1862 - notes that he is on extra duty driving the company teams. (Driving wagons for the Cavalry.) He is also paid at this time for the use of his horse the sum of $ 39.20. He is also due his regular pay since enlistment.

Roll dated October 1862 shows
that he has reenlisted on June 26, 1862 while the company was stationed near
Helena Texas. He is also paid $ 24.40 for the use of his horse.

action on June 21, 1863 at LaFourche Crossing.
