Charles B. Scott was born in 1827 in North Carolina. On December 3, 1851 he married Flora Ann Ringstaff , daughter of James and Mary Ann Ringstaff of Lowndes, Co. Alabama. Charles farmed at Ramer, Montgomery Co. Al. For several years. Charles enlisted in the CSA at Ramer, AL on March 14. 1862 and served in Company E of the 33rd Ala Inf as a 1st Sergeant, then appointed 2 LT on June 22, 1864. At the time of the train wreck, the regiment was moving from the Battle of Perryville where they had taken substantial losses. According to an eye witness diary, Lt. Scott was in charge of Company E. Decease Claim was filed on December 6, 1862 by Flora A. Scott, widow. Flora A. Scott's brother, George W. Ringstaff, was also in the Company E and a decease claim was filed on 12/24/62 by Thomas Durden, Atty. Their children were Anne Elizabeth Scott, Fulton Scott, Jane Scott, Madora Scott, Margaret Mazuri Scott and Benjamin Hudgins, son of Flora Ringstaff and William Hudgins. |
